Fetish

There are several different types of fetishes out there in the world.  I have a friend who has grown her hair very long (down to her butt) because her husband is turned on by very long hair.  Other individuals may have foot fetishes: I actually have cute feet, maybe I'll post a photo of them here.  I mentioned this in a description of myself on an online dating site- I should have known better- and actually recieved a couple of requests for photos of my feet.  This kinda creeped me out.  I may have cute feet, but I only like to share them at my discretion.  I also remember a time, when I worked at Filene's, one of my co-workers would take a look at my feet and begin to giggle... I don't think it was a fetish on her part; she just thought my feet, being as small as they are, were cute and funny. Huh.

I recently watched an episode of Desperate Housewives- it is not a show I usually watch- and aparently there are some individuals out there who have fetishes for watching women clean their houses... ok...

Others have textural fetishes: silk, feathers, leather, water, grass, whips, chains, cutting... ehhh.  Ok, I can see how some of those things can possible be pleasurable.  I mean silk is incredibly sexy, and so is warm water and rain, but the violence and bondage fetishes... I don't think so... not for me.

And then there is my dog, Molly. She is obsessed with rocks.  You could line up all of her favorite toys and ask her to choose one to play with and it would be the rock.  She likes to roll it around the yard, deck, house wth her nose and front paws.  I like to call it her rock fetish- since she is always incredibly satisfied after she finishes with it...  See what I mean?

Step 1: Locate rock...

Step 2: Play, Chase and Bark at rock

Ahh, satisfaction

Seedaholic...

So, since I was so busy this weekend, I gave myself today off from knitting.  Instead I spent some time out in the beautiful weather.

I spent a good 15 minutes watching this silly little chipmunk gobble up all the loose seeds it could find on the ground beneath the bird feeders.  So cute with his pudgy cheeks.
Check the fat cheeks!

Still not enough?

Home again, home again, jiggety jig

I spent the last four days in the White Mountains with my mother helping her out with her last fair of the season.  She makes and sells infant and toddler apparel.  To be honest, though her stuff is fantastic, well made and a lot of it quite unique, her sales were terrible.  A random poll of other vendors/artists (meaning the friendly ones and the hot, and very nice guy who designs and sells the glass jewellery that I wear) there said that sales for them were down, as well.  Damn economy.   Of course, if there aren't many people coming into buy, or who just see the name and pass by, there isn't much to do- so over the course of the weekend I finished two, almost three hats.

Hat one: Blue Spiral hat from previous post. If you remember I had finished this hat- soon after I posted a comment about how it turned out and stated that I might pull out the crown (the top that curves in) and re do it.  I did and am much happier with the results.  Here are the direction changes:
When you begin to decrease, count out and place a stitch marker after every eighth stitch, one section will/should have seven stitches. Change to DPNs as needed. Instead of continuing the pattern, change to a garter stitch (*Knit one row, purl next* repeat from * to establish texture) beginning with a purl row.
1. Before every marker, K the last two sts together,
2. Knit one row even
3. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until there are eight/ seven sts left.
4. Break yarn and thread loose end through remaining sts on needle and pull tight.  Weave in ends securely.

Here is a picture of the finished product (I will discuss the flower in a later post- I want to locate directions so that I can give credit for the design where credit is due. What do you expect? Once an English professor, always an English professor):

Hat 2:  I used my Crazy Eight pattern and just knitted this up.  Again, I will talk about the flower at a later time.  This particular hat sold about fifteen minutes after I had finished it, I ended up adding ear flaps for the customer.  See original style below:

They are cute, huh?  They make me happy.
